FAQs

Is TimeIvy for me?

If you believe that:

- Time is your most valuable resource, more even than money.

- Your wellness and mental health are also more important than non-stop work and stress (and also more productive).

- If you are serious about your goals and want to get that extra push. But you are the type of person that works better with positiveness, rather than punishment.

Then, TimeIvy is perfect for you.

How is my activity tracked?

First of all, your activity is only stored on your computer, not in our servers (unlike most other time trackers).

TimeIvy automatically captures the apps and websites you use on your computer, by checking the currently active window.

It also detects computer inactivity, when you take a break, for example, to accurately reflect the time spent on activities every day.

That's it. No screenshots. No keystrokes tracking, or any other type of invasive method is ever used. Your data is only yours.

How is my data protected?

TLDR; what you do on your computer is only stored on your computer. We only store certain community-related features needed for the app to function (ie. your points, username, email, etc.) on our servers, always following best industry practices.

Now the long version...

TimeIvy is different from other time trackers which claim to protect your privacy, but store all your data on their servers. Although there's nothing inherently bad about that, (most web-based apps these days take that approach anyways), it comes with a higher risk for you in case of data leaks or malicious practices that might involve selling your data to third-parties.

On the other hand, storing everything locally would come with other disadvantages, such as not being able to sync your work on multiple computers, enjoy any team or community features, limitations in functionality or total data lost if something happened to your computer.

So what's the solution?

TimeIvy takes a privacy-friendly yet modern approach to time tracking. Data that is considered sensitive is exclusively stored locally. In plain words, this means all the activity you do on your computer, such as the apps you use and websites you visit, for how long, etc, stay on your computer.

Other features that would benefit the most from the cloud (ie. team collaboration, subscription, community) are sent to the server. This would be things such as plants earned, focused time, points, projects or tags, email, username, etc.

Your data is yours only and you should be able to make decisions on it.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed via Paddle, an industry leader and GDPR compliant payment service. We don't have access or store your credit card or billing info on our servers, and all transactions are secured by SSL.

Is there a Windows version available?

Yes. But at the moment only the Mac app is available. This because I would like to provide the best experience to TimeIvy's users and doing "too much at the same time", sems like a riskier approach.

The good news is that TimeIvy for Windows version is already in late stages of development. So a launch is coming soon!
